The ultimate in secure sustainable security fencing will be on display at the Futurescape event, which takes place Tuesday 15th November at Sandown Park Racecourse, Surrey. Visitors to the Mobilane stand (70) will be able to see the multiple uses and applications for the company’s market leading Green Screen, which has become the sustainable fencing solution of choice for domestic, public sector and commercial applications including housing development, schools, hospitals, car parks and roadside verges.

Mobilane’s Green Screen is a pre-cultivated screen which features a galvanised high carbon steel weldmesh that supports 65 ivy plants, each of which is trained through the mesh as it grows. The steel weldmesh itself delivers a very effective security barrier, while the ivy flourishes and requires minimal maintenance – unlike a traditional hedge which requires periodic heavy pruning and is prone to collapse in high winds or snow. As well as different species of ivy, the screens can also feature Hornbeam, Beech, Ligustrum and Pyracantha. The screens come in a variety of lengths, and are 3m in height.

Crucially, Green Screens have an extremely narrow physical footprint and an expected life of 45 years, giving them a very high biodiversity footprint. They also have additional benefits over walls and wooden fences as they deter graffiti and vandalism.

“Mobilane Green Screens are our most successful proven system,” explains Paul Garlick, National Sales Manager for Mobilane. “The system has proven itself in a wide variety of scenarios and uses, from high-end domestic developments that require the highest levels of security, to large estates where space is at a premium, through to commercial applications around offices, hospitals and car parks, and even as a safety measure along busy roads.

“The benefits of plants in the urban environment is well understood and the need for more plants is a pressing one to help combat pollution. However, the challenge has always been how to introduce plants quickly and effectively. Mobilane Green Screens deliver on all fronts, as their widespread use illustrates. Whether your pressing requirement is aesthetic, sustainability, security, or the need for a rapidly installed instant solution, Green Screens deliver all benefits in one.”

Mobilane LivePanel on display to help attract new franchisees at Inleaf

Inleaf, the Manchester-based commercial plants specialist has added a Mobilane LivePanel system and three LivePictures to its showroom to allow the company to better demonstrate their benefits to clients, as well as to other installers interested in becoming Inleaf franchisees.

Founded by husband and wife Daniel and Charlotte Atherton – a qualified Landscape Architect – Inleaf are keen supporters of Mobilane systems and have recently completed the design and installation of a 25m square installation as part of an office refurbishment for a pharmaceutical company in Chester.

“Having the LivePanel and LivePicture at the showroom is useful for demonstrating the systems to clients,” explains Daniel Atherton. “However, Inleaf is a franchise operation and all our franchise events are held at our showrooms, so the LivePanels and LivePictures are useful for educating potential franchisees about the unique products they can offer.”

Daniel and Charlotte set the company up with the aim of becoming a franchise, and created their showroom to allow them to train people. With a long-term goal to have franchisees nationwide, Inleaf will recruit, train and support franchisees, as well as taking the lead on new products such as Mobilane systems.

“We launched in February,” continues Daniel, “And we are getting our first franchisees lined up. The industry is very competitive, but with our franchise opportunity we believe franchisees can become successful. There has been a sea change in the last few years and there is a growing market for living walls. The sense we are getting is there is a lot more awareness, which is largely client-led. For example, the Chester installation was part of the client and architect’s brief. We are seeing this more and more.

“In terms of general plants in the commercial space, we are finding a wide range of companies coming to us for solutions, with clients understanding the wide range of benefits of plants in the work place. However, there is still a job to be done in educating smaller businesses, which is where our demonstration systems at the showroom come in.”

GP Plantscape introduces Mobilane to its design-led offer

GP Plantscape, the family-owned commercial landscaping experts headquartered in Lanark, has added Mobilane systems to its core offer as a response to a trend towards office design that has plants as a key element.

GP Plantscape has offices across the UK including Manchester, Leicester, Newcastle, and up as far as Fyfe, giving the company a nationwide reach. The company handles contracts for blue chip clients such as banks, investment companies, and facilities management companies for whom GP Plantscape supplies and maintains interior and external landscaping across client sites nationwide.

“We are interior and exterior landscaping specialists with a focus on the commercial sector, interior plants for offices and exterior landscaping,” explains Alison Gilchrist of GP Plantscape. “We complement our core design and installation with maintenance.

“There is a clear trend within the office plant market that is moving towards more integrated office design, as well as more design within exterior landscaping. We find that Mobilane products lend themselves to this more aesthetic approach with the use of plants moving on from the days of simply a plant in a container.

“We see this as a growing area for the business as well as for our clients that are architects and designers and who are specifying plants as part of a wider design concept, instead of something introduced as an afterthought.

“We intend to increasingly build the use of Mobilane products like LivePicture and LivePanel into customer quotes and maintain the systems for them. We have used Mobilane products for both interior and exterior applications previously, and know how well suited they are to the commercial sector and design-led applications.”

Talking about the new relationship, Paul Garlick, National Business Manager at Mobilane UK said “GP Plantscape is the type of partner that is a natural fit for Mobilane. With an extensive nationwide network, and working to the highest standards, GP Plantscape understands exactly where the market is going and how it is evolving to a place where our products have a natural fit. We are sure our systems will help GP Plantscape to better attack the commercial market.”

Mobilane will have its LivePicture XL on display at this year’s RHS Flower Show Tatton Park as part of the ‘R Space’ garden designed by Pip Probert.

“We are particularly pleased that our LivePicture will feature in the ‘R Space’ garden,” said Paul Garlick, National Business Manager at Mobilane UK. “It’s the perfect setting for LivePicture and we think our system will complement the garden.”

Designed for a large family, the ‘R Space’ garden is sponsored by Hulton Landscapes Ltd and Gareth Wilson Garden Design Services Ltd, is both attractive and practical, with a homely feel and provides a place to sit, dine and entertain. Low walls hug a patio area and the boundary is deliberately kept low so as not to block surrounding views.

The LivePicture XL system featured in the garden is a living wall-hung picture system that uses plants to create a healthier and more attractive environment. Due to its innovative design LivePicture requires no power and consequently can be installed virtually anywhere. The benefits of using LivePicture include cleaner air, improved humidity, reduced noise pollution, lower stress levels and increased productivity levels in the workplace. The LivePicture plant cassettes can be changed in moments and need watering only every four weeks.

LivePicture comes in four sizes: The Small LivePicture measures 725mm x 725mm x 105mm, while the Large LivePicture measures 1125mm x 725mm x 105mm. The XL LivePicture measures 1160mm x 1120mm x 70mm, and the XXL LivePicture measures 2160mm x 1520mm x 70mm. The frame comes in three colours; white, silver grey, and charcoal/anthracite.

We offer a huge range of products, and we want to continue extending our offering with new, exciting products like these.

“While most of our customers are domestic landscapers, a lot of their projects at the moment are commercial, and both Mobilane Green Screens and MobiRoof have obvious applications here. Mobilane’s Green Screen living security fence system is being widely used by local authorities, businesses and housing developers as a rapid install solution, but is also increasingly finding a use in the domestic environment for use on patios and balconies.

Mobilane green screens and LivePanel on display at RHS Chelsea

Posted by Nina Mason  on Wednesday, May 25, 2016

Mobilane’s innovative Green Screen sustainable security fencing and LivePanel living picture systems are on display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, taking place between 24 – 28 May 2016. The systems will feature as part of the British Association of Landscape Industries stand (EA465).

“We are proud members of BALI, as are many of our Approved Installers” explains Paul Garlick, national business manager of Mobilane UK. “So we are pleased to be represented on the BALI stand. All of our systems are suitable for the domestic environment, including our LivePanel interior and exterior living walls, LiveDivider, MobiRoof green roof system, and of course our Green Screens and LivePictures. However, we have enjoyed particular growth in the domestic arena with Green Screens as home owners and developers come to appreciate the need for a truly sustainable and secure instant boundary solution.

“Our LivePictures are also gaining an increased profile and take up, both in the domestic market as well as the commercial office market, with an increasing number installed at some of London’s most impressive offices.

“We recently installed an interior LivePanel system in the iconic Walkie-Talkie building for a client that wanted to add an extra aesthetic and wellbeing dimension to their reception and boardroom. This illustrates the degree to which innovative plant systems are gaining traction in the commercial marketplace.”

The British Association of Landscape Industries promotes, supports and inspires all professional landscapers, garden designers and landscape suppliers to be leaders of an environmentally, ethically, and commercially sustainable landscape industry. BALI’s aim is to be the trade association of choice for the nation’s landscape professionals by delivering exceptional business, and technical and promotional support for its members, who include landscapers, landscape contractors, grounds maintenance contractors, interior landscapers, gardeners and garden designers.

PHOTO BY PAUL GILLIS/ Pinkmans Bakery in Bristol’s fashionable Park Street is wowing shoppers and diners with a stunning interior living wall installation from Mobilane. The 2 square metre installation is recessed into a wall in the dining area and incorporates a pink neon ‘P’ nestling within the plants.

Opened in October 2015, Pinkmans is a fully licensed bakery-cum-cafe, serving breads, pizza, coffee and cakes for takeout as well as eating in, throughout the daytime and evening. Plants are a big feature of the interior design of the establishment, which was developed by East London architects studio Holland Harvey. The living was installed by Just Plants of Bristol Limited.

Speaking about the installation, Adam Bristowe of Just Plants said “We’re noticing a growing trend where new and younger architects are increasingly incorporating plants in their designs in interesting new ways and in projects where you traditionally would not expect to see them. Not only do plants make an interior environment look fantastic, but they add a strong contemporary feel and deliver a range of sustainability and wellbeing benefits.

“Pinkmans Bakery is a very exciting project. The ethos is all about natural food and connecting with the environment, while the experience for shoppers and diners is interesting. It’s all about producing beautiful bread in a lovely environment, and the liberal inclusion of plants helps to make that experience a unique one.

“This has been a challenging project for Just Plants. Finding the right places to incorporate the hanging plants and the wall has taken some doing, but we are delighted by the finished effect and the response of customers.”

Established by London bakers Steven Whibley and Troels Bendix, who have previously been involved with Gail’s Bakery and Le Pain Quotidien chain, Pinkmans Bakery features an open kitchen and a wood fired oven.

LivePanel is a modular living wall system suitable for exterior or interior use. The modules have a specially developed substrate designed to enable the plants to establish and thrive. The feeding of the plants with water and nutrients is ensured by an integrated irrigation and drainage system. With a wide selection of plants which can be used for the living wall, LivePanel allows for a lot of creative freedom in the design.

Mobilane will be exhibiting its LivePanel system, as well as its other living systems on stand E5191at Ecobuild, which takes place 8th – 10th March 2016 at Excel London.

The ongoing challenge to ensure continued uptake of living systems is to deliver systems that are not only robust and effective, but are easy to install and manage. This is the message from Paul Garlick, National Business Manager of Mobilane UK, the market leading developer and supplier of sustainable living systems.

Garlick says “Living walls, green roofs and sustainable fencing solutions are now widely accepted, commonplace, and achieving remarkable results in improving air quality and biodiversity. Our modular systems are leading the way as they require very little or no major building alteration to install, need minimal maintenance, and are remarkably flexible. Several of our systems, such as our LivePanel living wall system, are increasingly finding use indoors as well as outdoors, especially within the corporate office environment, where it is adding a stunning aesthetic to foyers in offices, shopping centres and hotels across Europe.

“Our Green Screen living security fence system is being widely used by local authorities, businesses and housing developers as a rapid install solution, but is also increasingly finding a use in the domestic environment for use on patios and balconies. It is this fluid approach to application which is the key to ensuring progress in the push for future sustainability.”

Mobilane, which develops living systems for interior and exterior use, will be exhibiting at Ecobuild 2016 promoting its range of easy-to-install and manage living systems suitable for both commercial and domestic use.  As well as the LivePanel and Green Screen systems, Mobilane will also be demonstrating its MobiRoof green roof system, LivePicture and LiveDivider internal planting solutions, and NoiStop acoustic fencing system. NoiStop is a highly effective solution for reducing noise spillage and intrusion from railways, roads and industrial sites.

Mobilane will be exhibiting on stand E5191 at Ecobuild, which takes place 8th – 10th March 2016 at Excel London.
